General Information and Frequently Asked Questions

• The John Buckley Sports Cork City 10 Miler 2017 will take place on Saturday, September 9th.

• Race starts near the Lee Rowing Club at 6 pm sharp.

• Online entries accepted until Wednesday 6th September 2017. Entries accepted on race day until 5.45 pm. Race entry here.

• Race Headquarters is the Shandon Boat Club, The Marina, Cork City. Registration, race number collection, post race reception and prize giving will be hosted here.

• Parking and road use restrictions will be in place, please follow signage and stewards’ instructions as appropriate.

• Race-number transfers will not be permitted on race day.

• Cork Penny Dinners is the nominated local charity for the 2017 event. To give something back to the local community, St. Finbarr’s A.C. will donate a part of each entry fee to this charity. More info here.

• Individual, age category and team prizes will be presented after the race.

• There will be two water stations on the course, at approximately 4 miles and at 7.5 miles.

• Technical T-shirts for the first 800 entrants.

• The race will be chip timed.

• There will be pacers for 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 minutes.

• Arrive early for the event and obey all systems in place. Please follow instructions from Gardaí, stewards and local authorities.

• Spectators are welcome on the route but must obey the road closure and traffic restrictions. Do not park on or block any routes as this may cause a safety hazard.

• Public health and safety are of paramount importance for the event. All necessary measures are being put in place to facilitate the safe running of the event. If you have any further queries regarding public safety, please contact us.

• Please respect the environment you are in, use waste bins for water bottles during the race, avoid food wastage after the event. Be mindful of the local community in which you are in. Without the help of the local area residents, this event would not be possible.

• Reminder to all race participants that St. Finbarr’s A.C. does not accept responsibility for any property left at the start / finish area or at Shandon Boat Club. Entrants are responsible for the safety of their own property and it is suggested to leave valuables in cars

• Reminder to all club runners that this year, the John Buckley Cork City 10 Miler incorporates the County 10 Mile Championship. Medals for 1,2,3 in men’s and women’s Senior and O/40 categories.

• In addition to a full list of category prizes, a number of spot prizes will be given to race finishers. If you are lucky enough to be randomly selected at the finish line, you will be told, your number recorded and your prize presented during main prize-giving at Shandon Boat Club.
