Yes, Killarney Half Marathon, Charleville Half Marathon, Border Half Marathon, Kilkee Half Marathon, Ballybunion Half Marathon

Q. Do you have any pre-race rituals?
Coffee – I get nice coffee en-route to every race


Q. What will you eat the morning before the race?
Porridge before I leave home and a banana about half an hour before the start

Q. Do you have a top tip for this year’s race entrants?
Be process orientated not outcome orientated – get a bit better with each training session

Q. Do you have any words of encouragement for this year’s race entrants?
This is the payoff for all those hard, long training runs you did to get here. Have Fun!

I personally always try and eat two hours before a race and also try and get a two mile warm up before hand. Stay relaxed and try not to think too much about it.

Scrambled egg and toast with a cup of coffee.

Q. Do you have any words of encouragement for this year’s race entrants?

Best of luck to everyone hoping to take part, just go out and enjoy the experience and atmosphere.

Trust your training, build into it and if possible try and get into a group. Some great pacers also this year to help you reach your goal.

Pushing myself to be better & learning off faster runners. Also the sense of achievement when you improve improve even by small margins.

What do you find most challenging about training?

Most challenging is facing into training after a hard day’s work. But will mostly feel better after it.

Fermoy & local routes plus hills.

Chafe cream (very important) jellies & making sure my socks are picked out the night before

This was my 1st 10mile event last year. Enjoy the route, lovely scenery on way. Stick to your gameplan, smile makes it a bit easier!

Tay Road Cobh or around the 10 Mile race route.

Check the gear bag about 20 times!

Porridge and of course coffee.

Don’t go out too quick and if you have a plan try to stick to it. You have to respect the distance.

Have run it numerous times and helped out too by handing out water at water stations with my kids.

Q. What do you enjoy most about training?

The social part of it, having the chats and pushing myself to get better too.

Q. What do you find the most challenging thing about training?

Finding the time to train while juggling kids activities, work and everything else that is in the mix.

Q. Do you have a favourite training location?

Love the track sessions at MTU or in the Regional park for longer sessions.

Q. Do you have any pre race rituals?

Get up early enough to have the same breakfast that I normally do and get to the loo about 10 times before the start of the race!

Q. What will you eat the morning before the race?

Tea, toast and a banana.

Q. Do you have any tips for anyone who may be running a 10 mile race for the first time?

Make sure you get the miles in first. Race day will be easier if the legs have put in the milage.

Don’t worry too much about the time and enjoy the atmosphere on the day!

What do you enjoy most about training?

The freedom of head space it gives

What do you find most challenging about training?

Probably missing out on the nights out with friends at weekends but when I cross the finish line it makes it all worth while!

What is your preferred training location?

I always train out by the dog track…loads of options regards to road or pitch training

No just run!!

Porridge and bread with honey
